By Rail to the church

There are regular train services from London Victoria to Brighton - fast trains leave at 0936, 1006, 1036 etc and take just under an hour. Try to be on the 1006 at the latest if you're travelling on the day, even if you're catching a cab.

You can get train times & info from National Rail Enquiries on 08457 48 49 50 or click for the online planner.

From the train station, you can either catch cab or a bus - number 14 (hourly) or 27/27A (every 15 mins). Buses cost £1.50, although if you intend to catch buses later on, a one day Saver ticket will save you money. Buses to Rottingdean take around half an hour and drop you off outside the White Horse pub on the main A259 road in Rottingdean. From here, a walk up to St Margarets church will take 5-10 minutes - see Maps & driving page.

By Bus to the church

Brighton residents have a choice of buses - the 14 and 27/27A above from the station, plus the 2/2A (three an hour), 12/12A (six an hour) or 14 (every 30 minutes) from Churchil Square, and other stops through town. Click on the route numbers for detailed timetables or call 01273 886200.

From church to reception

Unfortunately, there are no direct buses from Rottingdean to the racecourse, although you'll have plenty of time to head back into the city between the end of the service and the reception kicking off.

From Churchill Square or North Street, catch the 22 (four hourly), which takes around 20 minutes to climb up to the racecourse. Alternatively, you could try to hitch a lift with a car driver at the service.
